02
Objectives
Improve the server architecture to reduce latency, prevent crashes, and support reliable communication between fireplace devices and the central server.
03
Challenges
The client, a leader in smart fireplace solutions, was experiencing server performance and reliability issues that affected real-time communication with connected fireplaces.
The existing system consumed excessive resources while waiting for device updates, resulting in high latency, performance bottlenecks, and occasional server crashes.
The backend also had issues storing and verifying device information, particularly for inactive units. In addition, unnecessary database activity slowed down user requests and affected the overall experience.
04
Solutions
Krasamo refactored the server architecture to process device updates more efficiently and reduce unnecessary resource usage.
Device status management was improved to provide more accurate and reliable information, including the proper handling of inactive devices.
The team also optimized database access to reduce latency and improve server responsiveness.
Real-time usage and error reporting were added to help the client monitor fireplace activity across installations. Commands and device statuses were logged into CSV files and automatically uploaded to AWS S3 for secure storage and future analysis.
These improvements increased server stability, reduced latency, and created a more scalable platform for connected fireplace services.
